With a collective work experience for over 4.5 decades in customer facing roles in some of the Globally renowned organizations , Gladys and Sanjay had the desire to start something which was meaningful, sustainable and in a way a give back to society at large.
Our journey started way back in 2016 when we purchased a land which had very low soil nutrition , a borewell which had no water and weeds which was all over. It took us over 4 years of sustained efforts to bring back vitality in the soil, channelize rain water to borewell and ensured utmost care was given during the growth phase of the sapling.
Early 2020 we saw our first yield in Coffee and Pepper alongside silver oak.
Post covid we saw a growing interest in staying healthy, farm – fresh food and people seeking a break from city and wanting to experience and connect with nature. We had the land and love for farming, so it felt like a natural fit.
This idea led to co-founding Smarika Ventures in 2021 with a focus on Agro Tourism, Corporate Events, Training Programs and Small Format Family Functions.
Smarika Farms believes in sustainability through Rain Water Harvesting, Generating Renewable Solar Power & effective use of Wet waste which is reused as compost.
Today the Brand Smarika Farms has made significant strides in Farming and Hospitality space. We have hosted over 7000 guests and in addition to Coffee & Pepper we have diversified the farming activity into adding Cardamom, Reetha, Aracanut and rearing fishes.
Smarika Farms has won multiple awards by leading Travel portals and is one of the most sought properties in Chikmagalur for a Stay, Small Format Family functions, Corporate Events and Training Programs.
Smarika Ventures through it’s brand Smarika Farms also helps smaller business in and around the village by sourcing essentials and creating downstream of it’s revenue.
